There are only three ways to generate cash in a business: operations, debt,
and equity. Most of us don't have a rich Uncle Bob and don't have a public
offering coming up soon, so we rely on operations and debt. Good cash management
involves managing your operations to finance your working capital and using
debt financing to get you through temporary valleys and for capital acquisitions
such as furniture and equipment.
Cash from operations basically means the amount of cash you generate from
sales in excess of cash you spend for expenses. Pay attention now, because
this is the same advice we gave Bill Gates back in 1976. We said: "Bill,
to generate more cash from operations you need to obey the three Golden Rules
of cash management: 1) get your cash as fast as you can, 2) get the greatest
return on the cash you now have, and 3) keep your cash as long as you can." He
took our advice and you don't need to call Paul Harvey to know the rest of
the story.
We can help you generate more cash from operations by analyzing your cash
flow and providing real solutions to increase your cash flow from operations.
